Puffed Snack Systems

RBS and Incomec, a Belgium-based popping/puffing equipment manufacturer, have partnered to supply customers in the U.S. and Canada with specialized puffed snack equipment.

RBS will supply the necessary auxiliary equipment, including conveyors, feeders, and seasoners, and offer sales support, installation, and technical support for the Popped Snack Systems.

Based on the products you wish to produce, Incomec will supply either a Cerex or Pellex C+ Processor. The production line can also be scaled, so processors can be added to your line as your business grows.

  • Cerex Processor (Puffed cakes food processor.) This grain processor converts untreated grain, pellets, and cereal blends with high free starch levels into unique puffed products. Traditional rice cakes, puffed biscuits, and cracker-like products of varying sizes can be produced with quick and simple changes of the forming dies.
  • Pellex C+ Processor (Popped chips food processor.) This processor converts micropellets and dry ingredients with high free starch levels, such as broken rice, corn grits, and potato-based materials, into crunchy, wavy chips.

Process Steps

 

  • Ingredients are delivered through a hopper, volumetrically metered, and introduced into the heated mould by a feed slide.
  • The Processor then pressurizes the ingredients for a short time. This pressurization converts the ingredient moisture into steam, resulting in popping or expansion.
  • Next, the mould is opened slightly, enabling the ingredients to form the product.
  • After being ejected onto a conveyor, the finished products are guided to a Cleaning Drum where unpopped ingredients and fines are removed, and then they proceed to flavoring and packaging
