Mixing Equipment

Depending on your level of automation, Reading Bakery Systems offers batch and continuous mixing systems. Continuous mixing offers more consistent dough to your production line and requires less floor space.

For wheat-based snack applications, consider the EX Continuous Mixer which is designed specifically for products where dough moisture levels range from very low to very high. Dough is gently mixed and developed without generating excessive heat. Low moisture, stiff products are easily mixed. This mixer offers dough production rates from 100 to 10,000 kg/hour.

Forming Equipment

For rotary molded snacks, the Thomas L. Green Rotary Moulder efficiently produces high definition, three dimensional shapes by pressing dough into a die roll. The interchangeable die roll is made of engraved brass and can be supplied with segmented rings for simultaneous, multiple shape production.

For extruded and co-extruded products, the Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder will enable you to create a variety of structural, flat and filled extruded and co-extruded shapes and sticks. It is a more flexible, cost-effective alternative to conventional dough forming and sheeting systems for customers who produce a variety of snack products.

For sheeted snack products, the Thomas L. Green Sheeter will create a consistent dough sheet and Gauging Stations will ensure accurate thickness prior to forming. Form scrapless geometric shapes and distinct shapes with the Rotary Cutting Station.

Topping Dispensers

Toppings of all kinds can be easily distributed by one of our Omega Dispensers. These dispensers can handle a wide variety of materials, from uniformly sized to fine-grain to irregular sized toppings, and feature leveling mechanisms that minimize material bridging and clumping.

Baking & Drying Equipment

With the Reading Pretzel SPECTRUM OVENĀ®, customers benefit from a variety of heat transfer combinations in one modular design. The single-pass or 2-pass convection baking platform features operator-controlled air temperature, circulation speed, exhaust, and moisture removal for reliable, consistent baking of snack products. The addition of an optional SPECTRUM Multi-Pass Dryer will increase oven speed, production throughput and process control.

Expanded Snack System

If you are looking for additional snack product opportunities using corn, rice and other cereal ingredients, Reading Bakery Systems offers a single screw, high-pressure extrusion system that will expand your capabilities.

The Ribbon Blender creates a homogenous blend of dry ingredients for a variety of recipes that can be run through the extrusion system. It may also be used to evenly distribute oil or increase the moisture level of the dry ingredient blend to promote better processing and higher system throughput.

The High Pressure Extruder produces corn curls and corn ball shapes. The Tumble Dryer reduces the moisture of the product to the proper, finished level, typically 1.5-4%. The Slurry Applicator coats the dried product with an oil-based seasoning blend to add flavors to the final product, such as cheese, butter, or a variety of other savory combinations.
