Low Pressure Extruder
The Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder enables you to create a variety of structural, flat and filled extruded and co-extruded shapes and sticks.
The LP extruder allows for high-speed production of complex shapes by forcing dough through dies mounted on the end of the Extruder and is a flexible alternative to conventional dough forming and sheeting systems for customers who produce a variety of pet foods and treats.
Designed to deliver consistent, efficient production at every step, each die forming unit in the LP Extruder features twin augers that meter a controlled flow of dough from the hopper, to the compression head, on through the forming die.
One factor that really sets the LP Extruder apart is the interchangeability of the forming dies. Product changeover can be completed in minutes, and extruders can be configured with multiple die sets in 13? (325mm) and 15? (375mm) wide increments.

Filled Stick Extruder
The Reading Pretzel Filled Stick Extruder System is an excellent solution for pet food or treats with soft fillings. It consists of a Low Pressure Extruder and pump system that combine raw batches of dough and dough filling into a specifically shaped filled rope.
Dough is forced into a compression head where it flows around a nozzle which contains filling. At the same time, a filling hopper discharges filling to a pump stand that meters the filling into the compression head on the Extruder. Both the dough and the filling exit the compression head through a die plate that gives the co-extruded dough rope its exterior shape.
Product changeovers can be accomplished by quickly and easily exchanging die plates and compression head assemblies. The Filling System can also be mated to an existing Extruder by adding the pump stand and changing the die and compression head assembly.
Each extrusion unit is fed by an individual pump for specific filling flow control, and the pumps, extrusion auger speeds, and general dough flow are all individually controlled at the operator interface screen.
