Direct Expanded Snacks

Direct expanded snacks are so-named because they are formed on an extruder and expand immediately once they emerge from the die. Only drying or frying is required to reduce the moisture content and prepare them for consumption.

Direct expanded snacks are puffy, crunchy snacks made primarily from cereal ingredients, such as rice, corn and potato. The ready-to-eat snacks come in a variety of simple shapes, including curls, balls, rings, animals and stars, and are often textured and coated with salt, spices, or cheese to make them tasty and fun.

Fried Potato Ring System

The RBS extrusion-based Fried Potato Ring System is ideal for the flexible, efficient, high volume production of extruded fried snacks, such as the popular fried potato ring product. It is capable of producing finished product at 200-1000 kg/hour.

Stackable Chips System

The modular Stackable Fried Chip System is designed to reliably and efficiently produce fabricated stackable chips. A single-reduction, 2-Roll Sheeter produces a continuous dough sheet that is discharged directly onto the Rotary Cutter infeed conveyor.  The die roll on the Rotary Cutter separates the dough sheet into distinct shapes.

Popped Snack System

RBS will supply the required auxiliary equipment, including conveyors, feeders, and seasoners, as well as provide sales support, installation and technical support for the Popped Snack Systems.

Incomec will supply a Pellex C+ or Cerex Processor depending on the final product you wish to produce. The Popped Snack line is also scalable, so processors can always be added to your line as your business grows.

  • Pellex C+Processor: The Pellex C+ Processor produces light, crunchy chip products. It is capable of converting micropellets and dry ingredients with high free starch levels, such as broken rice, corn grits and potato-based materials, into a crunchy and wavy chip.
  • Cerex Processor: The Cerex Processor is a grain processor that is designed to convert untreated grain, pellets and cereal blends with high free starch levels into unique popped products. It creates puffed rice cakes, cracker and biscuit type products of varying sizes that can be produced with quick and simple changes of the forming dies.
