Rice Cake Production Line Equipment

Whether you are new to rice cake production or a veteran snack food manufacturer, better baking begins with production line equipment from Reading Bakery Systems.

Reading Bakery Systems (RBS), located in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, USA, is the leading industry supplier of high-volume commercial snack production equipment. We serve customers worldwide, providing reliable and efficient systems for producing popped snacks, pretzels, cookies, crackers, biscuits, baked potato chips, baked crisps, bread snacks, pet treats, and a wide range of other snack foods.

Popped Snack Systems

RBS and Incomec, a Belgium-based popping/puffing equipment manufacturer, have partnered to supply popped snack systems in the United States and Canada.

RBS supplies the essential auxiliary equipment, including conveyors, feeders, and seasoners, and provides sales support, installation, and technical support for the Popped Snack Systems.

Incomec supplies a Cerex or Pellex C+ Processor based on the final product you intend to produce. The Popped Snack line can also be scaled, so you can always add processors to your line as your business grows.

  • Cerex Processor (For puffed cakes, e.g., rice cakes) This grain processor is designed to convert untreated grain, pellets, and cereal blends with high free starch levels into unique popped products. Rice cakes, as well as biscuit and cracker-like products of various sizes, can be manufactured with quick and simple changes of the forming dies.
  • Pellex C+ Processor (For popped chips) This food processor converts micropellets and dry ingredients with high free starch levels, such as broken rice, corn grits, and potato-based materials, into crunchy, wavy chips.

Popped Snack Process

  • Ingredients are fed through a hopper, volumetrically metered, and introduced into the heated mould by a feed-slide.
  • The Processor pressurizes the ingredients for a short period. This converts the ingredient moisture into steam, resulting in expansion or popping.
  • The mould is opened slightly, allowing the ingredients to expand and form the product.
  • Finished products are ejected onto a conveyor, leading them to a Cleaning Drum for removal of unpopped ingredients and fines and then onto flavoring and packaging

Expanded Science and Innovation Center Services

RBS has expanded our Science & Innovation Center’s equipment testing capabilities by offering new Virtual Trials that provide remote access to product development, equipment testing and demonstration, and production of samples. The benefits of these virtual offerings involve no travel costs and reduced coordination and time commitments.

Participants communicate with the RBS team by video conference, view the production floor from wide-angle cameras, capture discrete video and still images, receive reports capturing process settings, and can have product samples shipped for analysis. The RBS Science & Innovation Center in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, is open and available for in-person product testing.
