When searching for bakery manufacturing equipment for the production of extruded snacks, look no further than Reading Bakery Systems (RBS), an international leader in commercial baking equipment and extrusion technology for more than a century.
In the early 1950s, Reading Bakery Systems developed the industry’s first low-pressure extruder and dies to produce pretzels and other extruded snacks. It was a key technological development that helped change the shape of the industry.
Low-Pressure Extruders
The Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder is a flexible alternative to a conventional dough forming and sheeting system. It helps you create different structural and flat extruded snacks on a single production line, such as hard pretzel shapes, sticks, braids, crackers, sushki, and co-extruded products.
- Redesigned to improve safety, efficiency, and ease of cleaning
- Improved augers deliver more product flow with less work
- Lightweight, seamless hoppers eliminate harborage areas
- Improved cutting mechanism has a longer service life
- Product changeover can be completed in minutes.
- Extruder dies can be custom designed to make almost any shaped product
The Reading Pretzel Filled Stick Extruder System will meet your co-extrusion needs when you want to create sticks filled with soft fillings, such as cheese, chocolate, or peanut butter. A pump system pushes soft filling through the compression head and die to fill the dough stick formed by the Extruder. The product rope can then be cut into equal-length sticks or nuggets by the downstream Guillotine Cutter.
The Reading Pretzel Fried Snack Extruder can produce innovative product shapes, such as potato rings, potato sticks, and ethnic noodles, and process up to 3,000 pounds (1500 kilograms) of dough per hour. This low-pressure extruder is taller and more open, allowing for easy mating with frying equipment. The extruder features pre-feed rollers that manage dough flow for optimum consistency from when the dough enters the infeed hopper until it is cut off at the die face by the high-speed bandcutter (at up to 260 cuts per minute).
High-Pressure Extruder
The High-Pressure Extruder mixes and cooks ingredients to produce expanded shapes, including curls, popcorn shapes, rings, and balls, and allows for the production of many snack products in different shapes with interesting flavors and textures.
- Dies are interchangeable for multiple products
- Changeover of screws, barrels, and dies is quick and easy
- Directional discharge chute enables multi-line production
- Cutter assembly is interlocked for operator interaction during set up
Control Systems
RBS provides the latest, custom-designed control systems for your equipment. Touchscreen operator interfaces can be mounted locally or in conjunction with other equipment. Extruder controls can be tied into a cascade system to modulate production speeds throughout your production line automatically.
